A Program by Rebuilding Together
The Thrift Store Coalition is a project created by Rebuilding Together East Bay Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building healthier, more sustainable communities. Rebuilding Together believes that sustainability starts with everyday choices, and secondhand shopping is one of the simplest, most powerful ways to make a difference.
Through the Thrift Store Coalition, we're bringing together local thrift stores across the East Bay to promote a shared mission: extending the life of clothing and household goods, reducing textile waste, and offering an affordable, community-centered alternative to fast fashion. Fast fashion's rapid production cycles generate enormous amounts of waste and environmental harm, and we believe that shopping secondhand is a meaningful way to push back against that cycle.
By connecting shoppers with the thrift stores in their own neighborhoods, we hope to make sustainable shopping easier, more visible, and more accessible for everyone — while supporting the small businesses and nonprofits that keep our local secondhand economy thriving.
